Meet Michelle, a dedicated, warm, and highly qualified counselor with a wealth of experience in various settings, ranging from educational institutions to mental health organizations. Michelle’s journey into counseling began as an enrichment educator in primary and secondary school settings, where she developed a passion for supporting students through their emotional and psychological challenges. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychological Studies and an advanced Master of Counseling and Clinical Supervision, making her a certified clinical supervisor.

 

With a wide range of qualifications and expertise, Michelle specializes in individual, couple, and family therapy, working with clients from youth to adulthood. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, grief, gender dysphoria, transgender issues, LGBTQ concerns, trauma, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. Michelle is adept at supporting clients in crises and distress, providing a safe and nurturing environment for healing and growth. Michelle utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client-Centered Therapy (CTRT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SBFT), Multichannel Eye Movement Integration (MEMI), Transactional Analysis (TA), and Family Therapy. By tailoring her approach to each client’s unique needs, Michelle helps them gain insight, develop coping strategies, and achieve their therapeutic goals.

 

In her roles at both the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Institute of Mental Hospital (IMH), Michelle demonstrates her commitment to supporting individuals through their mental health challenges. At MINDEF, she aids servicemen in navigating the complexities of military life, collaborating with medical professionals to improve their well-being. Meanwhile, her experience as a befriender at IMH enhances her understanding of human behavior and therapeutic techniques, enabling her to build strong therapeutic alliances and foster meaningful growth in her clients. In her previous role as a Tele-counselor, Michelle demonstrates exceptional listening skills and empathy, providing support and guidance to individuals in need. Conducting thorough assessments and developing tailored intervention plans, she helps callers identify strengths, resources, and solutions to their problems, empowering them to make positive changes in their lives.
