Psychotherapist (Practicum)

Sol Therapy - Carmella Robinson

Carmella is a Psychotherapist-in-Training who has completed her formal academic training and is currently undertaking her practicum placement. She brings extensive professional experience in teaching, job coaching, and mentoring across diverse community settings. Over the years, she has worked closely with persons with disabilities, youth-at-risk, and caregivers — supporting not only skill development and vocational pathways, but also confidence-building, resilience, and a strengthening sense of self. Her work across educational and community systems has shaped a thoughtful appreciation for how individual wellbeing is influenced by family, social, and institutional environments.

In her therapeutic work, Carmella adopts a collaborative and reflective approach, drawing from evidence-based frameworks such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and trauma-aware practice. She values creating a space that feels both containing and gently exploratory — supporting clients in developing insight while also identifying practical steps that feel manageable in daily life. Her work is informed by developmental understanding, relational awareness, and sensitivity to cultural and systemic influences. She is attentive to pacing, recognising that meaningful change often unfolds gradually and in ways that feel steady and sustainable.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Carmella has lived in Singapore for the past 15 years, and previously in London, Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. These cross-cultural experiences shape a culturally attuned and globally informed perspective in her work. They allow her to hold with sensitivity the nuances of identity, belonging, transition, and family dynamics across varied communities, recognising how culture and context quietly influence the way we experience ourselves and relate to others.

Before transitioning into psychotherapy training, Carmella trained and worked as an artist. Her creative background continues to inform her therapeutic presence — supporting her to sit comfortably with emotion, think intuitively, and gently integrate reflective or expressive exploration where helpful. She recognises that at times experience may be felt more than articulated, and values approaches that allow space for this.

As a mother of two daughters, Carmella brings grounded understanding of parenting, developmental phases, and the evolving realities families navigate. She is intentional about creating spaces that feel steady, respectful, and paced — where individuals can feel heard and supported without pressure.

Carmella currently sees clients under practicum placement at Sol Therapy. Her clinical work is supported through formal clinical supervision and duty of care provided by her training institution, alongside ongoing clinical oversight and governance within Sol Therapy’s supervisory framework. Her practice reflects Sol Therapy’s integrative and relational ethos — holding psychological understanding and human experience with care, steadiness, and thoughtful attention.
