Paul Yee

(he/him)

Clinical Counsellor

Paul is a registered Counsellor with a strong passion to help guide individuals on their journey towards holistic well-being and personal growth. With a robust background in counselling young people across a breadth of cultural backgrounds, he is adept at working with the nuances of diverse beliefs and identities. Paul holds a Master’s degree in Counselling, and a B.A in Environmental Studies.

Paul believes that the relationship between client and counsellor is the foundation of therapeutic change, and that the counsellor supports the client in being the expert of their own lives. To that end, he utilises a person-centred integrative approach, adopting tools from systems thinking, existential therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. He strives to create a safe, nonjudgemental space within which collaboration can ensue to explore unspoken tensions and aspirations. He advocates for an integrated understanding of the self, and how the self exists in relation to others and the systems they exist in, forming the basis for long-term healing.

Through his work in advocacy spaces, Paul has developed an awareness of how difficult it can be to feel agency when faced with the rigor and demands of life. He has therefore built a practice that attends to the complexity and specificity of each client’s experiences, creating an environment of empowerment and care.

With a deep awareness of the challenges of navigating an increasingly complex and uncertain world, Paul has an intimate understanding of the struggle to find meaning and direction in such terrain. He believes that a clear and compassionate sense of self is grounding in times of struggle, and hopes to be able to journey with clients along their journey of self-discovery.
