Clinical Mental Health & Trauma-informed Somatic Therapist
Xiao Ting stands as a Clinical Mental Health and Trauma-informed Somatic Therapist and a dedicated Arts Practitioner. Xiao Ting’s rich training encompasses Counselling Psychology, Embodied Non-violent Communication, Trauma-informed Relational Somatics, and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy.
Xiao Ting’s approach is informed by principles of person-centered therapy, co-creation, and generous attention, where she collaborates with clients to construct a safer container to facilitate an excursion into inner landscapes. This is done primarily through gentle inquiry and deep, active listening. This means that sessions are built upon curiosity and non-judgment, nurturing a space where deep contradictions and struggles can be met with compassion and openness. Xiao Ting co-founded the peer support group at Yale-NUS College, fostering a community where she offered weekly one-on-one peer support while also co-authoring the comprehensive training manual for the program. In sessions, she scaffolds principles of embodied nonviolent communication — both with ourselves and in relationships — to support a more sustainable and integrated way of living.
Xiao Ting is particularly conscious of identity formation and gender dynamics and how they influence our relationships with ourselves and the world. They are experienced in holding space and supporting clients through navigating gender-based struggles, queerness, and the intricate tapestry of living in Singapore with all its intensities, histories, and idiosyncrasies. Their journey with trauma, grief, and depression also imbues them with an intimate understanding of its related tensions and difficulties.
Xiao Ting’s mission involves emboldening clients to rediscover their authentic selves, reawaken their inner voice and language, and navigate the world with heightened internal and external connectivity. Through their offerings, they aspire to contribute to the creation of a world that is both habitable and joyous.
