Psychotherapist (Practicum)
Sakun is a Psychotherapist-in-Training who has completed her formal academic training and is currently undertaking her practicum placement. She brings over 35 years of professional experience working closely with adolescents, families, and complex educational systems in Singapore. Her long career in public education and youth mentorship has shaped a grounded, attentive way of being—one that is patient, thoughtful, and deeply respectful of each individual’s lived experience. Over the years, she has walked alongside many who felt unheard, misunderstood, or navigating challenging personal and systemic circumstances, including periods of conflict, crisis, and significant mental and emotional distress.
Her therapeutic work draws from developmental psychology, Applied Psychology, trauma-aware practice, family systems, and evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. Her work is also informed by mindfulness-based perspectives that support emotional regulation, present-moment awareness, and reflective capacity. With postgraduate training in English Studies and Education from the National University of Singapore and the National Institute of Education, and a background in linguistics and literature, Sakun brings a particular sensitivity to language and meaning—allowing her to listen closely not only to what is spoken, but also to what may be difficult to put into words. She works gently and collaboratively, honouring each client’s pace, especially when articulation feels effortful or overwhelming.
At the heart of Sakun’s work is the therapeutic relationship. She is intentional about creating a space that feels steady, respectful, and emotionally safe—where clients can slow down, feel met without pressure, and begin to make sense of their experiences in ways that feel manageable and supportive. Her approach is informed by many years of supporting young people and families navigating neurodiversity, emotional distress, systemic disadvantage, and complex relational dynamics.
Sakun has a particular interest in working with adolescents and young adults, women navigating relational harm, substance use, and significant life transitions, as well as adults living with ADHD, anxiety, trauma-related stress, and addiction-related challenges. She also works thoughtfully with family and systemic dynamics, supporting emotional regulation, resilience-building, and the gradual development of a more stable and integrated sense of self.
Sakun currently sees clients under practicum placement at Sol Therapy. Her clinical work is supported through formal clinical supervision and duty of care provided by her training institution, alongside ongoing clinical oversight and governance within Sol Therapy’s supervisory framework. Her practice reflects Sol Therapy’s integrative and relational ethos—holding psychological understanding and human experience with care, steadiness, and thoughtful attention.
